We’ve already started sketching the first issue of Volume 3. A script existed for the whole issue, but after getting more feedback I’ve decided to revise it. I kept the very first scene, but am rewriting the following ones. Still, Cang could get right to work. Very exciting!
The opening scene takes up where we left off–on the top of the roof. Jenny and Andre are trying to reconstruct what has happened over the last couple of days. These rough sketches are the result of a series of conversations and thumbnail sketches–just scribbles, really–to get the characters in place. Once we feel confident that this flows, he’ll begin the final sketches.
If you would like to help us continue to spread the word, here is a sample email you could share with friends who are interested in new approaches to literacy. Thank you so much for any help you can give us spreading the word.
Dear Friend,
Recently, author Sue Stauffacher launched an Indiegogo Crowdfunding campaign to reach our most at-risk, struggling readers. I really want Wireman Comics to continue and, I suspect, after you go to the link above and watch the 3 minute video describing the project, you will, too.
If you need a ‘sales pitch,’ check out Eric, a student from Detroit, and a struggling reader who loves Wireman. We need some outside-the-box ways to combat our pervasive illiteracy problem among adolescents and I believe Wireman is one of them. Donations of any size are greatly appreciated, but just as important is sharing the site with others who care about these kids and the importance of their learning to read as much as we do. Going to the site and making comments, sharing the site (from indiegogo) on your FaceBook page and twitter feeds all help elevate the status of the project and get it in front of potential investors. All the money in this campaign goes toward artwork and printing and distribution of the comics.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about this project!
